Registered Owners And Keepers
What is the difference between a registered owner and a keeper of a vehicle?
The difference can be best explained in the following examples; If you drive a company car the company is the registered owner but you are the keeper of the vehicle; if your child drives a car that is owned by you, you are the registered owner but you child is the keeper of the vehicle. Often, car insurance quotes can be higher if the owner of a vehicle is not the same person as the registered keeper. Please note; a vehicle must be insured in the name of the person who is the registered owner of the vehicle because if an insurer has to pay out on a total loss claim they can only pay the person who has the financial interest in the vehicle.
