Continuous Insurance Enforcement
What is continuous insurance enforcement?
The UK has one of the highest car insurance evasion rates in Western Europe. The continuous insurance enforcement (CIE) is a record based compliance and law enforcement regime which has been introduced to reduce the number of uninsured vehicles on the roads in the UK. Under this regime introduced in 2011 it is now a legal requirement for vehicle owners to insure their vehicles at all times. Part of this is that any vehicle that is kept off the road needs to be declared by means of a Statutory Off Road Notice (SORN).
