Here at Tiger.co.uk we like tigers. And with most of our work here being focused on helping to get drivers great car insurance quotes, we also like our cars. But putting the two together is not something we would recommend. Which is why we were amazed to come across this photo from Dubai (where else?) showing a driver taking his (or her) pet tiger for a day out.
We would much rather see tigers where they are supposed to be – in their natural habitat. Last year we ran a campaign that resulted in donations to two tiger charities to support just this.
We were delighted to hear recently that the Zoological Society of London (ZSL – the conservation charity that also runs London and Whipsnade Zoos) has launched its Tiger SOS campaign. This campaign will raise money for tiger conservation work in Sumatra as well as developing a state-of-the-art tiger conservation HQ at London Zoo. To find out more and to see the plans for the exhibit, check out the ZSL website at www.zsl.org/tiger-sos
Meanwhile back in the office and closer to home we were delighted to support a couple of other fantastic charities in the last month or so. Our colleagues at our parent company, Call Connection, joined with us to make donations on our last couple of “dress down” days (obviously for me this is really a “dress up” day!) and decided that these should go to Comic Relief and to support our local Sue Ryder Care Home. Overall we raised over £700 and the team asked me to present the cheques for them. That’s me in the middle!
Finally, I’m delighted that the team here has been working hard to produce some more useful tools for Britain’s motorists. We have just published our Tiger Guide to Young Drivers’ Car Insurance – 20 areas for young drivers to consider when they buy car insurance that will hopefully help them to get cheaper car insurance deals. We have also a few more guides to eating on the move (obviously one of my favourite topics!) and a listing of some of the biggest and best motoring events that are taking place over the next few months.
And don’t forget, if you have any questions about insurance you can ASK THE TIGER and I’ll get one of our insurance boffins to find you an answer.
